Do Laptop Computer Ratings Really Help? When you're comparing laptop computers, there are many you can choose from. Now-a-days, seeing that we have instant access to information with the internet, we can compare to see what the differences are. Almost every website will have laptop computer ratings with one-to-five star rating systems. There are also sites which will place all of the most current models in competition with each other, at least on the page. In reality, all computer models have very similar features. It's more like, "Do I want to have a Linux system, Windows 7 full, Windows 7 crippled, Windows XP (yes, there are still those offering it because it's still the most reliable operating system that Microsoft ever put out), Vista or the Mac. When you're ready to buy laptop computer, you have to do your own research because the tiny differences are boggling if you try to compare them. In reality, you're not going to see much difference in speed between a 2.5 GHz model and a 2.8 GHz model. In fact, you're not generally going to see any difference at all between any two laptops anyways. The difference has more to do with, "Is the keyboard comfortable to touch-type on" and "Can I maneuver with the teeny little square control they give me"? The answer is always NO of course, because no matter what little input device they give to you, it's always going to be a pain to use.
An Acer laptop computer tends to be cheaper than a Dell, but so do a Compaq laptop computer. Toshiba laptop computer ratings are basically exactly the same, if you look at reviews, as things you'll see with any other laptop. They complain about the same things. "The keyboard is too small to type on". Of course it is, they're trying to make these things as small as they can. "It's very difficult to navigate with just the mouse-replacement they give you". Those things aren't really designed to be used for more than a few minutes. Anybody in their right mind buys a laptop mouse and plugs it into the USB port. I tend to always plug a full-sized keyboard into the laptop too. I hate using a laptop. It doesn't matter which laptop, they're all got the same problem. So, battery life becomes an important issue. They're duking that one out right at this moment. So, what's the best laptop computer? There's no such thing. In America, even if they were to finally create the perfect laptop computer, it would be gone by the end of that year when they had to come out with a new line. It comes down to your own sense for things. In my case, I'd like to go cross-country by bicycle again. I would like to bring a small computer with me when I go. All, and I mean every, laptop in the world is still too power consumptive. The horrid little OLPC toy has no memory and no reasonable person would actually call it a computer. The ASUS has gotten battery life up to about 12 hours; but they only did that by making the battery bigger, not by making the computer actually use less power. They tried, but they failed. Laptop computer ratings is how I determined, however, that ASUS might SOON be coming out with a low-enough power unit. In about two years, if they incorporate the new low-power monitor that Pixel Qi makes. |
