All Kinds Of Laptop Computer StandsLaptop computer stands are the simplest way of supporting a laptop. They have a very small footprint on the floor, sometimes only having one support stand. For being so small, they tend to be kind of expensive, around $80 (with list prices of $135). Possibly the reason that they're so expensive is they're made of oak, and oak laminates, and they're always expensive. A laptop computer stand has two platforms, both of which have adjustable angles. The casters glide easily on the floor. A laptop computer table varies widely as far as how it's designed. Sometimes they have one leg, sometimes they have four casters and one leg, sometimes they have four legs. They all tend to have a mouse area, but that might either pull out from the side of the larger surface, or it might be completely adjustable, separate from the laptop's section.
They can either come with a cherry finish, like ones by HandStands products. Out of 48 customer reviews, it only got 3 stars, probably because it wasn't very adjustable. Look for an ability to adjust the laptop angle separate from the mouse angle, but have the pivot point be in the middle of the two sections rather than at the back edge. That makes it very easy that they might slip when you put pressure downwards on the table. Apple is big right now, as far as laptops goes, because of their 'Air' unit. So, you'll find lots of apple laptop stands out there all vying for their market share. The stand they have for the Apple laptops laptop monitor stands are extremely simple. The Griffin Technology iCurve Laptop Stand is a simple bent curve of plastic that lifts the laptop's case off the ground high enough so that the screen is even with your face. Then you just plug in a regular sized keyboard and mouse and you have a 'real' computer. So, you're basically just using the computer as a monitor, replacing out the mouse and keyboard so that they feel like a real computer. There are other stands out there that do the same thing, but they all look like they'd tip over. They're not wide enough. The Rain Design mStand, for example, unless it somehow screws to the table, is just too unsteady. Computer laptop Carts One interesting thing is the Connect-A-Desk (From Connect-A-Desk products). It's a portable laptop table that can be worn around your neck. It's the strangest and most amazing little table that I've yet seen. It only got three stars from 5 customer reviews, but I always like when people are completely inventive. It costs $36. It folds down to a small 1" x 14" x 11" in size and weighs 1.4 pounds. When there's no way you could use laptop computer stands, and if you need a little portable desk that you can type on as you walk around, it might do, particularly if you were using a small Netbook such as the ASUS EEE 1000HE and you stuck Velcro onto both the bottom of the computer and the top of the desk platform. There's little other way that I can think of that you could type on a Netbook as you walk around but this little device. A really funny story was told, on the Amazon site, about this unit. They had brought their laptop and were typing when they leaned forward over a septic tank and their $3000 computer fell into the septic tank. In the end, the Connect-A-Desk was the thing that ended up at the bottom. |
